Visiting Vejle

Visiting Vejle

On 14th March the iAge project team members joined forces once again at a meeting hosted by our Danish partners (UCL) in Vejle. The University of Lillebaelt presented their pilot activities during a working visit to the municipalities of Hedensted and Jelling. Here we saw how ‘older' volunteers support the elderly in health promotion. We were also told how the elderly follow courses to improve their ICT skills, how they can receive support when starting up a new company and how volunteers (the same age as the iAge target group!) run a sports and activities programme.  We also received a very warm welcome at a multifunctional community centre with a similar programme which included many cultural activities (film, music etc.).

The iAge partners have taken further steps in their transnational activities, defining tasks and toolkits and discussing the upcoming reporting period.

Initial preparations are also underway for our next project gathering - the iAge Midterm Conference.  This event will be held in Grimstad, Norway on 20th June and shall deal with ‘Life Long Living' and the ‘labour market'. Project results to date will be presented, and there will be ample opportunity for politicians and policy makers to discuss these themes with all parties involved. A pre-announcement and more details will follow shortly.

Dutch partners ZIF and Hanze University are already organizing the following partner meeting next November, in combination with the ‘Health Battle'. This battle, between teams of international students, will serve to find solutions for issues in the sphere of Healthy Ageing.

More information on upcoming iAge activities and events will posted nearer to the date.
