On the 7th of March Alderman René de Vent from Hardenberg gave a presentation on the local pilot"Lifelong Living Online"(LLL Online) at a meeting of the Association of Dutch Municipalities (VNG).LLL Online is part of the European project "iAge: e-inclusion in aging Europe".
In February and March of 2013 the VNG organized a series of debates, in which local government representatives were able to familiarize themselves with the opportunities that Europe offers. Participants also had an opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience about the best way to tackle European challenges. In the program were also presentations of some inspiring practical examples.
During the meeting, Alderman René de Vent gave further information on the iAge project. In this project the municipality of Hardenberg participates with a pilot titled "Lifelong Living Online". The intended outcome of the pilot is that elderly can function independently for a longer period of time and be part of their environment by using ICT and modern means of communication.
In his presentation he gave an overview of the key internal and external success factors and the motives to participate in the iAge project. Apart from the advantages of the direct relationship with the municipal welfare, elderly and health policy, he argued that participation in a European project can provide more knowledge, experience and quality and can bring acceleration in the implementation of local policies.
Finally he stated that it is a challenge to implement successes of iAge in other parts of the municipality.
