DigiBazar in Kortrijk
On Saturday April 26th the 2014 edition of ‘DigiBazar' took place in Kortrijk, Belgium. DigiBazar is organized by the library of the City of Kortrijk and local training providers, such as Vorming Plus, CVO VIVO and iAge partner Mentor vzw.
Digibazar is not just a fair with information stands on recent developments and new technologies but also workshops, taster sessions and demo sessions on trending topics such as ‘working in the cloud', 'the best apps for my smartphone', ‘logins and passwords', ‘First aid for computers' and much more.
This most recent DigiBazar around 220 participants, 90% of whom were 60 or older. A large group of trainers, volunteers, exhibitors and organizers were involved in making this DigiBazar a true success.
Thanks to the iAge project, iAge partner Mentor vzw could appoint one trainer and one volunteer to give training and support on smartphones, tablets and apps.
The participants were full of praise regarding the event. Paul, 68 years, said: "Now we are at a stage in our lives where we have the time to learn more about computers and the internet. But we don't have enough basic knowledge! Events like this help us to overcome the barriers and we also meet people our own age that struggle with the same things we do. Meeting trainers in a more informal way and having the opportunity to have a ‘taste' of various workshops has encouraged me to enroll in a full training program."
